Iowa softball team looks to wrap up Big Ten title

May 1, 2001 By admin

The Iowa softball team will host Northwestern this weekend and with a pair of victories would wrap up no worse than a share for the Big Ten title and the right to host the post-season conference tournament. The Hawks swept Michigan last weekend to forge a tie at the top of the standings and gain the edge in the tiebreaker. Iowa will host Drake in a doubleheader tomorrow and coach Gayle Blevins says it will allow her team to stay sharp.Iowa has won eight straight games and Blevins wants that momentum to continue.Blevins says it is nice to have the tiebreaker in conference play but only if they take advantage and win.
