Iowa appliance giant Maytag has announced the nationwide recall of thousands of electric ranges. The recall involves 30-inch range units under the brand names Magic Chef and Crosley. Newton-based Maytag says people should stop using the ranges immediately as there may be a fire hazard in the indicator lights. It’s believed flammable liquids can enter the lights, causing sparks and starting a fire. Thirteen thousand ranges are being called back after the company got 15 reports of flames in the lights — though no one was hurt. Consumers can call Maytag toll-free during business hours at 800 462-9267.
