Polk County seeks funds for new arena

A new sports arena for Des Moines could move a step closer to reality today when Polk County officials go back before the Vision Iowa Board which doles out state money for projects. The county is seeking 75-million dollars for three projects, including 59-million for the arena. Polk County spokesman Phil Roeder says they are hopeful a review committee will vote to recommend the application to the full board.Roeder says they are hoping to begin negotiations with the board, soon.Roeder says it could be a couple of months before the projects receive final approval.
