No changes in latest RI baseball poll

The top ranked teams remain the same in the latest Radio Iowa/High School Coaches Association baseball poll. Mason City Newman continues to roll through the regular season and remains top ranked in the latest class 1A poll. Remsen St. Mary’s won the Granville Spalding tournament over the weekend and climbs five spots to second. North Tama, Lynnville-Sully and Lansing Kee complete the top five. Twin River Valley debuts in the poll this week at number eight.West Branch remains top ranked in class 2A. Dyersville Beckman is second. Solon climbs three spots to third then its Hampton-Dumont and Wall Lake View Auburn. In class 3A, Cedar Rapids Xavier remains top rated. Decorah is second. Atlantic, Sioux City Heelan and M-O-C/Floyd Valley complete the top five. and Iowa City High remains top ranked in 4A. Sioux City West climbs to second followed by West Des Moines Dowling, Indianola and Marshalltown.At 16-and-four, Twin River Valley is off to the best start in school history and debuts this week in the 1A poll at number-eight.Twin River Valley coach Justin Clutter says hitting has been a key and the team carries a batting average of .356. They also had a remarkable 24-hour stretch over the weekend in which they scored 52 runs in four games.Clutter says the run support has given a boost to the pitching staff. He has nine pitchers who have nine wins, including three left handers.
