Preseason preview says Cyclones have big building job ahead

Iowa State coach Dan McCarney will face a rebuilding job this season according to one college football magazine. Phil Steele’s College Football Preview predicts the Cyclones to finish fifth in the Big-12 North. He says Iowa State loses 25 seniors and will be a much younger team, especially on defense. He says the UNI and Iowa games are important to getting off to a 4-0 start.Steele says after a 9-3 season and the school’s first ever bowl victory there will be a new mentality this season. He says the team should play with more confidence.The Cyclones open the season at home on September 8th against Northern Iowa.
