Iowa State/Iowa game now cancelled

September 13, 2001 By admin

The Iowa State-Iowa football game has been postponed. Iowa associate sports information director Steve Roe says despite getting clearance from conference offices on Wednesday to play, games began to be called off this morning.

He says it became apparent that many games were being cancelled and the leaders of both schools decided that was the best action. Roe doubts the decision was influenced by A.B.C. which was to televise the contest but rather a joint decision by officials at the two schools.

He says Iowa State probably had a bigger say in the decision since they have a bigger burden as the host school. Roe says a make-up date will be discussed. He says they’ll determine that at a later date.
