Commission upholds firing of Jones County Deputy

September 26, 2001 By admin

In northeast Iowa, the Jones County Civil Service Commission has upheld the firing of a sheriff’s deputy who’s accused of having sexual contact with a 16-year-old Monticello boy.48-year-old Tommy Wink was fired September 6th after an incident August 25th. Then-deputy Wink was trying to serve a court notice and summons on the unnamed boy and his mother. The boy was only wearing boxer shorts and Wink allegedly tried to make sexual contact with him. The boy became defensive and Wink left the house. Wink disputes some of the commission’s findings and may still appeal the decision to district court. No charges have been filed.
