Hawkeyes and Cyclones fast key tests Saturday

October 26, 2001 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeyes are thinking upset as they get set to host 8th ranked Michigan. Michigan leads the Big Ten at 3-0 and coach Kirk Ferentz says the Wolverines have a much-improved defense.Ferentz says it’s taken some great plays for teams to move the ball against Michigan, and it’s going to take that Saturday. Ferentz says a victory would be a great step for the program.Iowa State is on the road in the Big-12 to play 24th ranked Texas A-and-M. The Aggies are known for strong defense and this year is no different. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says the Aggie defensive front seven is talented.McCarney says he isn’t trying to sell his players on the idea that this week’s game is a chance to earn some national respect.McCarney hopes having already played at Nebraska will give his team a sense of what it will be like at Kyle Field. He says the Nebraska game also shows the Cyclones must get off to a good start.
