The Illinois man who tried to avoid Davenport police by jumping out a hotel window is still in the hospital — and his story is now becoming more clear. 36-year-old Anthony McGee, of Rock Island, broke an ankle and a wrist in the fall from the third floor Sunday night. Police were summoned by hotel managers who said McGee used a stolen credit card to pay for his room. Police say there was no answer when they knocked on the door of McGee’s room but when they entered, they found him on a ledge, threatening to jump. Police say an officer grabbed McGee by the shirt but lost his grip when the man pushed away. McGee is charged with 4th degree theft.
