Meetings discuss livestock operations and water

Seven meetings will be held in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota over the next week to discuss the effects of large-scale livestock operations. They’re sponsored by the “Waterkeeper Alliance” — a group led by Robert Kennedy, Junior. Iowa Farmers Union president Gary Hoskey says his group’s co-sponsoring the events to educate the public.Hoskey says a number of high-powered lawyers who fought the tobacco industry and won have joined the “Waterkeeper Alliance.”A “Waterkeeper Alliance” forum will be held this afternoon in Normal, Illinois. On Sunday, a forum will be held in Iowa City on the Johnson County fairgrounds at 1:30. On December 3, a forum will be held at 7 o’clock in Creston at the Southwest Community College. On December 4, a forum will be held at Drake University in Des Moines. On December 5, a forum will be held in Music Man Square in Mason City. On December 6, a forum will be held at Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar and on December 7, a forum will be held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.
