Former Buchanan County deputy sues over altered picture

December 13, 2001 By admin

A former Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputy is suing the department saying another deputy digitally altered a photo to make it look like she was baring her breasts. Crystal Kiesau was a Buchanan County deputy from 1999 until resigning earlier this year. In her lawsuit she says deputy Tracy Bantz altered the photo and distributed it to others by e-mail. The suit claims Bantz’s actions constitute defamation and invasion of privacy. She’s seeking compensatory and punitive damages. A district court judge has granted a temporary injunction barring Bantz from altering or destroying information used to digitally alter the photo. Kiesau is also seeking a jury trial in the case.
