Grinnell coach up for national honor

Grinnell High School girl’s golf coach Arvilla Altemeier is a finalist for a national coach of the year award that’s based on career record, championships and service to the coaching profession. Altemeier found out yesterday that she’s one of eight finalists from across the United States.Grinnell has won three state championships and finished as runner-up four times under Altemeier. She gives the credit to the athletes, parents and the community that’ve supported her.Altemeier has been the coach at Grinnell for 35 years. The award will be announced June 28th.
