The top republican in the legislature wants to create “traveling billboards” to promote agriculture. House Speaker Brent Siegrist of Council Bluffs wants to create a new “specialty” license plate.”Specialty” license plates cost 35-bucks extra, plus the yearly renewal fee is 10-dollars more than the regular rate. Siegrist would use the extra cash generated from the sale of the “agriculture” license plates to promote ethanol and soy-diesel. He says it’s another thing that can be used to help promote Iowa’s value added products.Siegrist says the license plates would be “traveling billboards” promoting Iowa’s agricultural lifestyle.
