Candidate drop out leaves Woodbury G.O.P. looking for new names

March 8, 2002 By admin

The Woodbury County Republican Party is scrambling to find a candidate after first-term State Representative Greg Hoversten of Sioux City decided not to run again. County G-O-P Chair Barb Vakulskas says with only a week to go before the filing deadline, they’ll have to work quickly to find a replacement. She says re-districting has made it tougher overall to pull together the candidates this year. Vakulskas says they aren’t totally unprepared even though they thought Hoversten was going to run again. The Woodbury County Republicans and Democrats will both hold their county conventions tomorrow. Vakulskas says she understands Hoversten’s desire to quit to spend more time with his family.
