Former High School counselor to spend time for touching students

A 54-year-old ex-counselor at an eastern Iowa high school is headed to jail for the inappropriate touching of two students.Former Elkader Central High guidance counselor Steven Reagen will have to serve ten days of a 30-day sentence according to a ruling Wednesday in Clayton County. He was convicted last month of simple assault for his alleged offensive contact with a 17-year-old girl. A second trial was called off when Reagen consented to a guilty plea in a case involving another 17-year-old girl. He was put on administrative leave in February 2001 and resigned last November.
