Loras off to good start in baseball

March 20, 2002 By admin

The Loras College baseball team is off to a good start in its bid to bounce back from a disappointing 2001 campaign. The Duhawks finished last in the Iowa Conference race and 11-26 overall, the first losing season under the tenure of coach Carl Tebon. Loras is 5-3 as they prepare for a southern trip.A key this season will be winning close games. Last year the Duhawks lost 12 one-run ballgames.Tebon won’t do as much experimenting with the line-up on this trip south.Tebon feels five-time defending champion Wartburg is the team to beat in the conference race.Loras is scheduled to play Clarke College tomorrow afternoon.
