Spring ball chance for UNI QB to shake off rust

April 8, 2002 By admin

Northern Iowa football coach Mark Farley says spring drills will be a chance for quarterback Tom Petrie to play catch-up. Petrie opened last season as the starter but was injured midway through. Griff Jurgens finished the season as the starter but injured a knee in the Panthers semifinal round loss at Montana and will only go through light drills. He says Jurgens gained more game experience late in the season by playing through the playoffs.
