Heavy thunderstorms rumbled across west-central Iowa last night and early this morning, bringing high winds, rain, hail and a pair of twisters. National Weather Service meteorologist Craig Cogil says it produced tornadoes in Boone and Carroll counties. The worst of the hail is reported in Franklin, Hardin and Hamilton counties, with stones up to one-inch in diameter. Cogil says highs today statewide will be in the 80s but a change is coming, with highs expected Friday in the 60s and still-colder weather for the weekend.
