Two accidents in Eastern Iowa being investigated

April 25, 2002 By admin

Authorities in eastern Iowa are investigating two unusual cases from Wednesday — one that resulted in death, another that left a man badly hurt. Scott County deputies hope to learn today what killed a man whose body was found inside a Princeton mobile yesterday afternoon. The man, whose name has not been released, suffered burns. A MidAmerican Energy spokesman says officials don’t yet know if he died of a heart attack or was electrocuted. And a Bettendorf man is in critical condition after jumping from a moving vehicle late yesterday afternoon. 49-year-old Paul Schultz was a front-seat passenger in a van driven by 48-year-old John Cunard, also of Bettendorf. Police say they don’t know why, but Schultz jumped from the van as it was traveling at 40 miles per hour. Schultz received serious head injuries when his head hit the pavement, but he was not struck by any other vehicles.
