Jack Frost set to make an appearance in Iowa tonight

May 17, 2002 By admin

Parts of Iowa may see record cold tonight. You’d better fire the furnace back up or put quilts back on the beds. Peter Corrigan, senior hydrologist at the National Weather Service, says an unseasonable cold snap will strike tonight that’ll see temps dipping down near freezing. Corrigan says gardeners should cover their tender plants as there may be frost even if it doesn’t get down to freezing. Corrigan says Iowa’s record lows are in the mid-to-lower-30s for tonight and he expects we’ll bottom out near or just above those temperatures. The same forecast applies for tomorrow night too. Highs are expected back in the 70s by Tuesday.
