Ruling expected soon in mailbox bomber case

May 28, 2002 By admin

Today is the deadline for the prosecution in the case of the alleged multi-state mailbox bomber to respond to a defense motion for a “gag order.” A judge will decide how much information can be released after a request from Luke Helder’s lawyer. He’s accused of planting 18 pipe bombs in five states, including Iowa, which injured six people earlier this month. Helder’s attorney fears the publicity will hurt his chances of getting a fair trail.
