Summer is a time for fun in the sun with sports and games, but a spokeswoman for “Prevent Blindness Iowa” says some of those sports can be dangerous to your eyes. Amy O’Brien says baseball can be harmful to the eyeball if the fast moving ball strikes the eye.O’Brien says baseball players should wear some sort of eye protection.O’Brien says protecting your eyes while taking a swim is as easy as wearing inexpensive goggles. She says that especially important if you’re swimming in a lake, pond or river.O’Brien says golfers can even make the simplest of mistakes and end up with an eye injury.She says don’t look up if you hear “fore,” as you may get hit in the eye. 45-thousand people suffered sports-related eye injuries in the United States in the year 2000.Bob Fisher, KLSS, Mason City
