Man dies after being dragged by truck in Des Moines

July 3, 2002 By admin

A man dragged by a truck in Des Moines last night has died. Police say 36-year-old Gerald Peek was arguing with someone on a street in the capital city’s east side Tuesday when they took off in a pickup truck. Peek hung onto the side of the truck and was carried for almost a block and a half before he fell off and hit his head on the concrete. Later last night, he died from his injuries. Police who’d started investigating it as an assault case have now arrested two men from Winterset and one from Orient, Iowa. All three are charged with first-degree murder. Investigation continues into what the dispute was about, and whether any other people were involved.
