Victim identified in Franklin County crash

July 17, 2002 By admin

Authorities say an elderly man was the victim in a crash in Franklin County yesterday. Other drivers saw 88-year-old Lester Garrett of Hampton driving erratically before the crash. Garrett was alone in the van. Troopers say Garrett was southbound on Highway 65, about two miles north of Hampton, when his van crossed the center line, went into the ditch and vaulted over a driveway embankment, striking a tree head on. The crash happened at about one o’clock yesterday.
