Five held for questioning in Davenport murder of nine-year-old girl

July 24, 2002 By admin

No arrests have been made but five men are in custody who were wanted for questioning in the weekend shooting death of a Wisconsin girl in eastern Iowa. All of the men sought as material witnesses in a drive-by shooting death in Davenport have turned themselves in. 17-year-old Morris Brown, 16-year-old Merrill Howard, 19-year-old Jamail Jalloh, 20-year-old Montez Lewis and 21-year-old Demont Moore are being questioned by police. Police issued warrants for the five shortly after the fatal shooting of 9-year-old Deanna Shipp of Madison, Wisconsin, about 11 Sunday night. The girl and her parents were in Davenport to celebrate an aunt’s wedding. The little girl was shot when two passing cars sprayed the celebrants at a yard party with bullets. Police believe the shooting may be connected to an ongoing feud.
