Police seek bank bandit wanted in Iowa, South Dakota

July 24, 2002 By admin

A middle-aged bandit who’s still on the loose may be responsible for a string of bank jobs in Iowa and South Dakota. He’s described as fortyish, short and stocky, with grey hair and beard. Police say he hit three banks in Ames a few weeks ago, a couple in Sioux Falls last week and a pair in Sioux City the week before. They’re frustrated trying to come up with a description of a getaway car, saying he may park several blocks away when he plans a bank job. And the suspect wears a hat and sunglasses, preventing a good surveillance video. Police say he’s indicated he has a gun, but has never showed one.
