Northwestern hosts international students

Ten students from around the world are making Northwestern College in Orange City their home during the summer institute for international students. The program is directed by Piet Koene, chair of Northwestern’s Department of Modern Foreign Languages.Koene says the students are here to study English and experience American culture. Students from Japan, Taiwan, and India are participating. The summer institute began July 24th, and will continue through August 22nd. Koene says the students will take a number of field trips.This is the eighteenth year of the summer institute at Northwestern College, Koene says it is a very valuable program that’s seen anywhere from 10 to 40 students participate.One of the ten participating students will be attending Northwestern in the fall. The others will return to their home countries.
