Ethanol plant opens near Coon Rapids

August 9, 2002 By admin

Iowa now has 10 ethanol plants. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the farmer-owned “Tall Corn Ethanol” plant, near Coon Rapids. Every year the plant’s expected to turn 15 MILLION bushels of corn into 40 MILLION gallons of ethanol. The plant employs 38 fulltime workers. Tall Corn Ethanol chairman Warren Puck calls the plant “state of the art.” The plant’s designer says it’ll be one of the most energy-efficient ethanol plants inthe country. According to the Renewable Fuels Association, there are 65 ethanol plants on-line in the U-S, with another dozen under construction.
