LA bound jet makes emergency landing in Des Moines

A Northwest airlines jet bound for Los Angeles made an emergency landing in Des Moines yesterday. The 7-57 jet took off from Detroit, but the pilot reported one of its engines failed. One-hundred-80 passengers were aboard. The airliner made an emergency landing at the Des Moines International Airport early Tuesday afternoon. Most of the passengers boarded a bus and headed for Minneapolis, where they caught another plane for L-A.
