Iowa City doctors do well in rankings

New rankings on a national doctors’ database show many of the state’s best physicians are working in Iowa City. The “Best Doctors” database lists about 300 doctors in Iowa on its annual list and nearly half of them work at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Donna Katen-Bahensky is C-E-O and director of the facility. She says the database, which can be accessed at “www.bestdoctors.com”, links individuals with serious illnesses to expert medical specialists for second opinions or treatment. Katen-Bahensky says she’s very pleased with the high ranking of so many University Hospital physicians. The database is compiled through asking 30-thousand doctors nationwide to rate the clinical abilities of other doctors in their areas of specialty. Of the 311 Iowa doctors listed, 144 are from University Hospitals.
