Parents of Mason City boy settle suit

October 8, 2002 By admin

The parents of an 11-year-old boy who died while being restrained at a center for children with psychiatric problems in Mason City have settled their lawsuit. Robert and Karen Wilson sued Gerard of Iowa, its parent company — Nexus Incorporated of Minnesota — and two employees after the death of their son Tanner. Tanner died of cardiopulmonary arrest on February 9th, 2001. The settlement was reached on Monday, one day before the trial was to start. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. A Nexus spokeswoman says the company is pleased the lawsuit has been settled so all may begin the healing process and move forward.
