Separate crashes claimed two lives in Iowa early today. There were two traffic deaths in west-central Iowa within 20 hours. The first occurred when a vehicle driven by 62-year-old Gerald Hummel of Guthrie Center crossed the center line into the path of a garbage truck on Highway 4 near Panora. The two hit head-on, killing Hummel and injuring the truck’s driver, 55-year-old Duane Lyons of Panora. At least one person is dead following accident in Carroll County about 5-30 this morning, at the Storm Creek Bridge on Highway 30 between Glidden and Carroll. No details have yet been released about the crash or the names of the people involved.
