Wartburg and Coe meet in football Saturday

October 17, 2002 By admin

Wartburg hosts Coe in a key Iowa Conference showdown on Saturday. At 4-0, Wartburg needs a win to maintain at least a share of the lead while at 3-1, Coe needs a win to climb back into the title hunt. Wartburg coach Rick Willis says both teams have been successful because they have been able to run the ball and stop the run. He says that’s exactly what the game will come down to.Willis says the key for the Knights will be slowing down Coe running back Freddie Jackson, as they like to get him outside and let him run free. He says Jackson is also an outstanding receiver.Willis says neither team can afford to give the other offense a short field, as he says it played a big part last year.
