Murders being investigated on both sides of the state

October 28, 2002 By admin

Authorities on opposite ends of Iowa are investigating cases of apparent murder-suicide. In northwest Iowa, the Sioux County Sheriff says the bodies of a man and his former girlfriend were found Saturday at the man’s home in Hospers. Investigators say it appears John Turpin the Third shot and killed Sara Harvey of Orange City with a rifle, then shot himself in the chest with a shotgun. In eastern Iowa, Davenport police were called to a basement apartment Saturday and found the bodies of a young mother and her child. 20-year-old Casie Chrestensen and her 13-month-old daughter Chance died in what one officer said was a “very traumatic scene” but a cause of death has not been released.
