Teen charged with setting school on fire

November 13, 2002 By admin

A 14-year-old eastern Iowa boy is charged with first-degree arson for allegedly setting a fire in his school. The Marion fire department was called to Linn Mar High School yesterday morning after a fire was discovered in a restroom. The fire alarm went off and the school was evacuated. The associate principal used a fire exstinguisher to put out the fire and students were kept out of the building while firefighters cleared the smoke. Damage was estimated at $300. The fire department determined the fire was intentionally set and the unidentified boy was arrested.
