Des Moines man charged after high speed chase with kids on board

January 29, 2003 By admin

A central Iowa man is jailed after leading authorities on a high-speed chase — while his kids were in the car. A state trooper first clocked the car on Interstate 35 south of Des Moines doing 114-miles an hour with no headlights about 9:30 last night. The trooper chased the car for several miles, into the capitol city, through a residential area, and eventually hooked the rear bumper and spun it to a stop. 30-year-old Jermaine Trotter, of Des Moines, was taken into custody. He faces a variety of moving violations, driving on a suspended license and may face child endangerment charges. Authorities say Trotter’s three children, ages nine, 11 and 12, were all in the car, unhurt.
