A Cedar Rapids insurance agent has been charged with bilking an elderly woman. Forty-seven-year-old Terry Frey has been charged with spending nearly 200-thousand dollars of an elderly client’s money. Frey’s business was called Partners4Life and authorities say Frey got a series of loans and payments from his 84-year-old client, put the money in a private account and used it to bankroll his business and personal life. State officials say Frey even got the client to name him as a beneficiary and executor in her will, which is against Iowa insurance laws. The client’s niece alerted officials to the alleged scene. The state has also issued a cease and desist order against Frey and his wife, Anna, ordering them to stop promoting themselves as investment advisors, a service for which they charged clients 250-dollars-per-hour.
