Iowa coach Steve Alford hopes Jared Reiner will be cleared to play in Wednesday night’s game at Minnesota. The junior center has missed the last three games with a sprained knee but may see action against the Gophers. He says Reiner won’t start and won’t be 100 percent, but he says they want to get him some work. Alford says that will let him get back into the flow and be an added benefit to the whole team. The Hawkeyes are 4-4 in the Big Ten and with three home games after Wednesday night Alford says the Hawkeyes need to chalk up some victories. He says they’ve told the team this is a key four-game stretch to get in a good position to finish out the last four games of the season. Alford says the Hawkeyes need to become more patient in their half court offense without slowing the transition game. He says they’re very good in transition and the big guys haven’t been running. Alford says the quick shooting is bothering him right now.
