Sheldon troops leaving for active duty

April 8, 2003 By admin

American flags and yellow ribbons are more plentiful around the town of Sheldon today as the locals prepare to send off members of a National Guard unit. The 2168th Transportation Company is leaving tomorrow morning for a one-year mission in an undisclosed location in the war on terrorism. The 40-member unit is subject of a sendoff ceremony tonight at six o’clock in the Sheldon High School gym. After the sendoff, the Guardmembers will be led by a police escort to the armory along a route that’s expected to be lined with well-wishers.
