Iowa seeks Big Ten Softball tournament title

After winning the regular season championship the Iowa Hawkeyes host the Big Ten softball tournament which begins, today. The Hawks play the final game of the afternoon against the winner of the game between Illinois and Minnesota. Iowa claimed a fifth regular season title with a record of 13-4. Iowa coach Gayle Blevins says a key to her teams success has been the ability to handle adversity. She says that’s a sign of successful people, when you find a way to “right the ship” in tough times.Iowa may be the top seed but Blevins says there is no clear favorite in the field.Blevins says the factors that are needed in the regular season are also crucial in tournaments. She says you have to be consistent and prepare and get better daily.Michigan is the second seed and the Wolverines are the defending tournament champions.
