Le Mars man sues over firing

May 13, 2003 By admin

A LeMars man is suing the state of Iowa and a judge for wrongful termination. The 10-page complaint was filed in federal court in Sioux City on behalf of former Plymouth County Clerk of Court Richard Kenyon. After three of the 7 workers in his office filed grievances, the judges voted to fire Kenyon. He’s suing the state and Judge Gary Wenell of Sioux City, who was presiding judge at the time of his firing, asking a million dollars for salary and benefits he’d have earned if he had worked at the job till retirement, and a half-million dollars in damages for the embarrassment of being taken from the office by sheriff’s deputies after his firing.
