Northern Iowa outfielder Adam Boeve is expected to be taken in Major League Baseball’s amateur draft over the next two days. Boeve was the Missouri Valley player of the year this past season after hitting three-68 with 18-homers and he also drove in 70-runs. As a junior, Boeve could return to U-N-I next season but that depends upon how the draft goes.Boeve says several teams were in contact leading up to the draft but it can be difficult to judge just how interested a team may be, he says you never know until you sit down and talk with teams.Boeve is a member of the Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League who open up their season tonight at home against Madison. Another U-N-I product on the roster, Sean LaCoste, says the talent is their to defend their league championship.
