Bill seeks to increase ag exports

June 24, 2003 By admin

The U.S. is exporting far fewer agricultural products than it used to, and a bill being introduced in Congress this afternoon aims to change that. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley and Michigan Representative Dave Camp are co-sponsoring an agricultural trade bill that aims to even the playing field. Grassley says the bill would strengthen the enforcement of existing U.S. market access rights for ag exports. He says it would also help Congress prioritize the practices of trading partners who deny fair market access to U.S. products. Ag exports have been falling since the mid-90s. Last year, exports were lower than in 1995.
