Severe weather strikes Hamilton County

July 10, 2003 By admin

The sirens sounded last night as a tornado warning was issued for north-central Iowa’s Hamilton County. The National Weather Service spotted a possible funnel cloud near Webster City, headed toward the town of Kamrar. One witness was watching the skies for signs of a tornado in that area and saw heavy rain and wind and low hanging clouds.Another woman was at the golf course south of Webster City which got two-point-six inches of rain. She says there’s standing water in places there’s never been standing water before. Some damage was reported to a livestock lot near Jewell along with scattered tree damage and power outages though no injuries are reported.
