You can sign up on-site for some Iowa Games events

July 15, 2003 By admin

If you want to take part in the 17th annual Summer Iowa Games this weekend there are still plenty of opportunities. Executive Director Jim Hallihan says 17 sports will accept on-site entries, and those sports range from cross country to wrestling. Hallihan says those who’re interested, go to the Iowa Games website which has all the information about signing up for the competition. Hallihan says while many sports are limited by facilities, many others are best suited for on-site registration. He says for instance, in weighlifting and wrestling, you weigh in on the day of the competition, so it makes no sense to register ahead of time.Hallihan says a cross-country race can have as many runners as possible. He says team sports, though, require the scheduling of games, and that’s why early registration’s required for basketball and other team events. Hallihan says the Iowa Games website includes the location and time of each event. Most events are held in Ames, but there are a few sports held in Ogden and Des Moines. The Iowa Games run Friday through Sunday.
