Among the election activity in Iowa today, a vote in a northern Iowa county on a proposed one-cent local option sales tax. Twenty-two Kossuth County precincts are open for voting today ’til 8 p.m. on the local option sales and service tax proposal. Nine schools in Kossuth county would split the money if voters approve the sales tax hike. Algona’s superintendent says some of the money would be used to reduce property taxes. Iowa property owners have traditionally shouldered all school repair and construction projects.
