Iowa downs Miami of Ohio

September 1, 2003 By admin

Iowa also answered some questions with its opener Saturday — mainly, the question of whether the defense will be as good as expected. The Hawkeyes picked off four passes in the 21-3 victory over Miami of Ohio. Nathan Chandler had a steady debut at quarterback for Iowa, connecting on 12 of 19 passes for 129 yards, and rushing for 24 yards. Tailback Fred Russell had 167 yards on the ground in 22 carries. Iowa hosts Buffalo this Saturday.
