Congressman Tom Latham convened a hearing in Ames today to discuss a looming energy problem. Latham is a member of the Congressional Task Force for Affordable Natural Gas, and is gathering testimony from Iowans. According to Latham’s staff, 60 million homes, business and industries rely on natural gas. Experts say the price of natural gas may be double what it was last winter. Latham has called the situation a “crisis” and is asking professors and other energy experts for any solutions that would help stabilize the supply of natural gas — making prices more stable, too. The hearing was held on the Iowa State University campus.
