Simpson College returns to the N-C-A-A division three national playoffs for the first time since 1997 this Saturday when the Storm visit St. Norbert College. Simpson earned an at-large bid after finishing the season with a 9-1 record. Storm coach Jay Niemann says they didn’t know what was going to happen, so they went out and tried to get a convincing win. Niemann says qualifying for the playoffs is a big step for the program and he’s proud of the way the players have responded.Niemann says after learning they were in the playoffs the focus turned to getting ready for St. Norbert. He says they’ve already exchanged tapes and have started breaking it down to get started on practice.Simpson finished as the runner-up to Iowa Conference champion Wartburg. The Knights will be at home in this weekend’s opening round to play Bethel of Minnesota.
