Oskaloosa motel burns

March 5, 2004 By admin

Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that gutted the Oskaloosa Motel early this morning. About thirty people had to be evacuated and sent to another motel, the Comfort Inn, according to Oskaloosa fire chief Frank Glandon. He says the fire started just before 3 A.M. and caused extensive damage to the ten-unit motel. There were no injuries to any of the motel’s occupants or to any of the firefighters. Glandon says they were hampered by nearly forty-mile-an-hour winds and a shortage of water, however both the New Sharon and Eddyville fire departments provided relief at the scene, with extra tankers and firefighters.
